Anchorman 2 Movie Review

This sequel was not all that it was hyped up to be. I personally thought the first movie was much funnier. Granted there was a few scenes where I found myself laughing out loud but not as many as I had hoped. The focus on news and how it has changed was very interesting and there were random celebrity cameos of which I'm not sure was necessary. I'm a bit disappointed but not enough to discourage you from watching it; just don't spend your money at the theater. A short wait for it to be available on DVD and Blu-ray will suffice. We give this one a 7 out of 10.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Movie Review

So I initially wanted to leave one word for this review: EXCELLENT! However I guess this would not be a really good review so here we go... This movie was great. The costumes and set design were beautiful. The special effects were nowhere near cheesy and Jennifer Lawrence really "acted her ass off". It was rather long at nearly 2 1/2 hours but it didn't feel like it and once the end came upon us we didn't want to leave. Why must we wait a whole year to see the next one??? Why? With all of these predictable movies out, Catching Fire is refreshing. If you haven't read the books this movie makes you want to read them. You want to know what happens next. On another note the theater was packed and the show I planned to see was sold out and so was the one following it. Oh yea, and the monkey scared everyone in the Theater (lol). Lenny Kravitz!!! We miss you already!!! This is a must see and you must see it in theaters!!!! I give this one a 9.5 out of 10. BRAVO and I will be seeing it again.

THOR: The Dark World Movie Review

"THOR 2" was much better than the first one. There was more action and less love story. Although slow at times, it kept my interest. Plenty of chuckles and really cool shots. Most of the movie is set in Asgard which I appreciated but I'm the type that digs fantasy. We feel bad for the "bad guy" but a twist at the very end was all but unsuspecting.  I would say wait until you can rent it unless you find a good deal on tickets. A short review reflects my mood towards the film. I give it a 7.5. out of 10

Gravity Movie Review

It is amazing how Gravity still tops the charts weeks after its release. To be blunt the movie was not as great as I thought it would be. Let’s just say a few people fell asleep in the theater and when I went to the bathroom one patron stated that Gravity, although a good movie, "is the type that you feel you will never have to watch again". That pretty much sums up the movie for me but I would like to point out that the visuals for this movie are excellent. It really feels like you are in space and witnessing a horrific dilemma for the main character. The actors (2) did a good job. The movie was a little slow BUT it felt short so you can get through it without releasing a heavy sigh (or not). I expected more from the 3D aspect. It seems now movies are not necessarily made for 3D but make it available because of the profit. I would say if you are looking for nice visual effects then definitely go see it in the theater in 3D but its ok to wait for this one to come out on DVD or Blu-ray heck if you have a 3D TV by all means wait for it to be available for home entertainment. I give this one a 7 out of 10.

Lee Daniels' the Butler Movie Review

Watching the Butler was like taking a compelling step into the past. It is amazing how we forget what has happened not even a century ago. This is a must see film with give or take 20 celebrity appearances. The film seemed true to its foundation; the true story of Eugene Allen. Allen served in the White House from 1952 -1986, through 8 administrations spanning Truman to Reagan. Aside from a few dramatic additions, this film addressed self-pride, dignity, love, and the historic political and social change occurring during that time. I was surprised by how funny the movie is as well. This is one of the best movies released in summer 2013. Go see it! Bravo: 9 out of 10.

The Wolverine Movie Review

Better than the first one, this movie was not much of a super hero film. The opening scene was, for lack of a better word, awesome. Tao Okamoto did a great job playing the role of Mariko Yashida. The train scene was rather impressive and there is a predictable twist. I anticipated more action but I did love the "arrow shot". We give this one a 7.5.

The Conjuring Movie Review

I personally was very excited to see this movie because it has been a long time since I can truly say I was scared. The Conjuring was fantastic. Not as gory as I had expected but honestly I was unsure of what to expect. James Wan did a great job. No crazy CGI, good old fashioned spooky suspense. What's even scarier is that this is based on a true story. A few parallels to the Exorcist. There was one shot in particular that looked exactly like the Exorcist except in the Exorcist there was a woman holding a candle or match in the attic and in the Conjuring its the father holding a match in the basement cellar. I'm not sure if you absolutely HAVE to watch this in the theater. It would be much more frightening if you watch it in your home with all the lights out. I would say however, if you are the type that hides in your friend's arm pit... watch this with a friend. This is a good one. I may watch it again without covering my ears (lol). Good job!! On a scale of 1 to 10... 8.5

World War Z Movie Review

World War Z is full of intense scenes. I found my heart beating faster than normal during the most thrilling scenes. A well thought out plot, this Zombie movie is one to see in the theater. There are a lot of "cheats" in this one but no more than the average. Brad Pitt is portrayed as truly the star of the movie, the hero that Zombies just can't get to. I will not give away the story but at least one of his family members should have died. On a scale of 1 to 10... 7.6

Pacific Rim Movie Review

Pacific Rim falls in with all the other "save the world" movies. A less than average story line but the creativity in detail pretty cool. It seemed like there was a lot of effort put into the visual effects and that's it but you should definitely see this in the theater. Your eyes will thank you for it. On a scale of 1 to 10... 7.5

Man of Steel Movie Review

Man of Steel is definitely a go see. More violent than the average "superman" movies. We must warn you though, there are a lot of back stories. Great special effects. Henry Cavill plays a pretty good Superman and you understand where Zod is coming from as he attempts to preserve his world and people. Do not wait for this movie to come out on DVD or Blu Ray; the theater experience is well worth the price of admission. On a scale from 1 to 10 we give this an 8.5 feel free to share your reviews below.
